MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED. Supplemented by five (5) years of experience at a journey-level in diesel and gas engines and other automotive equipment repair, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Some experience must include working with and maintaining automotive equipment with hydraulics. Must have an ASE Heavy Duty Brakes or Automotive Brake Certification. Must have or be able to obtain a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of hire.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Fleet Maintenance division. Perform routine to complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system diagnostics and repairs on all types of vehicles. Supervise semi-skilled mechanics; assign daily work schedules. Enforce good housekeeping practices and safety regulations. Accurately complete reports and administrative records. Participate in 24-hour emergency calls on a rotational basis. Assist in ordering all necessary parts, supplies, tools, equipment, and replacement items. Research, manage, and maintain products for environmental programs to include material safety data sheet (MSDS), library research, and updates.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: The selected candidate will have a background check completed, undergo drug testing and complete a physical exam before employment. Tasks completed for this position involve regular and sustained physical exertion. Tasks may require occasional exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Possession of a current valid State of Florida Class B CDL driver’s license with airbrake endorsement required or obtain within six (6) months of employment.
The compensation package will start at the base salary range and may vary based on proven abilities of the individual selected. The City of Zephyrhills has an excellent benefit package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and Florida Retirement System (FRS).
