The main mission of the City Rescue Mission of Lansing, since its founding, has remained to teach the Word of God as found in the Christian Bible (Romans 10:13-15), edify and equip the saints to be committed followers of Jesus Christ and His teachings (Ephesians 4:11-13), and present an authentic representation of traditional, Biblical Christianity (Philippians 1:9-11). Job Overview:
This role is vital to the Success of the City Rescue Mission. The Grounds Keeper is responsible for maintaining the outdoor spaces of the properties of the City Rescue Mission. This will involve operating various lawncare/snow removal machinery and moving it between CRM properties as needed/assigned. They will need to have excellent attention to detail and be able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision. They will need to be able to safely and responsibly drive company vehicles, tow and back-up trailers, and conduct themselves safely and responsibly around various machinery and vehicles. They must maintain positive representation of the City Rescue Mission and the Gospel of Christ as they move throughout the community. The Grounds Keeper must be ready to share the gospel and pray with guests at all times.
Expected Schedule- 1 Shift, 30-35 hours per week if part time, up to 40 hours for full time(Full Time Option)- The Grounds Keeper should be available between 7am and 3pm, but this schedule can be somewhat flexible. No holidays, weekends, or evenings.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain the grounds of all City Rescue Mission Properties, involving lawncare, snow removal, and other season specific tasks
- Appropriately and responsibly use various Lawncare and Snow Removal Equipment
- Drive City Rescue Mission Vehicles between properties, following all driving laws and regulations
- Hitch and Unhitch Trailers, Load and Unload equipment from trailers, and be able to safely and efficiently tow and back up trailers
- Assist across the Maintenance Department as needed
- Oversee Buildings and Grounds Volunteers, ensuring their time is used wisely and to the benefit of the City Rescue Mission
- Attend all meetings and training sessions as scheduled
- Show the love of Christ, be ready to share the gospel, and pray with guests regularly
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma- Required
- Driver's License and clean driving record- Required
- 1 Years experience with zero turn mower and other lawncare equipment- Required
- 1 Years experience towing and backing a trailer- Required
- Mechanic experience, professional or self taught- Preferred

Environment
The Grounds Keeper will need to be able to consistently work in a noisy and distraction-filled environment. The Grounds Keeper’s task will constantly require them to work in low temperatures, high temperatures, outdoor elements (e.g. rain, wind, snow), and small/enclosed spaces.
Physical Requirements-
The below listed abilities are required to be able to complete the essential duties of the role:
The Grounds Keeper will need to be able to navigate stairs- quickly and proficiently navigating up to 2 flights of stairs whenever needed. They will need to be able to climb ladders, scaffolding, and other high/steep places. They will constantly need to be able to lift 50lbs in all directions and will occasionally need to lift over 50lbs in all directions. They will need to be able to complete 3 hours of physically taxing work without a break and stand or walk for 3 hours without sitting down. They will occasionally need to complete 3 hours of physically taxing work without a break. They will need to be able to move with haste for up to 500 feet.
The Grounds Keeper will need to be able to constantly operate Heavy Machinery in a safe and responsible manner.
The Grounds Keeper will need to be able to constantly complete visual scans of indoor/outdoor areas in varying levels of light. They will need to occasionally complete tasks with repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. They will need to be able to communicate with others to exchange information, this could be completed through adaptive tools.
