Full Stack Engineer (Remote)

This is a remote position with a few onsite responsibilities in Chicago, IL.

Start Date: ASAP following interview

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9am – 5pm CST

Location: Remote, but must live within commuting distance of Chicago for a few on-site days to start

Duration: Long-term Temporary

Compensation: $50 - 60/hour

Our client, a large non-profit healthcare association, seeks a Full-Stack Engineer to support their team! This role will report directly to the Director of Engineering and assist the team with an array of backlogged tasks, with a focus on debugging, support tickets, feature enhancements, and front and back-end testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop both back-end and front-end code applying best practices such as writing test cases to define development and selecting appropriate design patterns.
• Commit to and manage pre-defined SLAs for bug resolution, task resolution and new enhancement estimation and delivery.
• Apply software-development life cycle methodology to track bugs and proactively identify, propose, and implement solutions where appropriate.
• Understand business needs, build relationships with the business, and propose solutions to guide decisions ensuring development meets business requirements.
• Guide planning of new solutions, including identifying technologies meeting business needs; recommend architecture and identify technology to support specific use cases and new applications.
• Define user stories and supporting test cases meeting business and technical needs, establish best practices for maintainability, and balance test coverage, risk and budget.
• Communicate professionally and empathetically, solicit and provide feedback, actively offer help, and make sure everyone is aligned.
• Work collaboratively on a cross-functional team of developers, designers, and business analysts.
• Create documentation, architecture diagrams, workflows, ERDs.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

1. Bachelor’s degree, Boot Camp, coursework or experience in computer programming and / or Web development.
2. Minimum 7 years of experience programming full stack solutions for the Web. Demonstrated ability to program, test, and debug in most of the following technologies: React, Node.js, SQL, TypeScript, JavaScript, GraphQL.
3. Strong background in the following preferred:
4. RESTful and SOAP APIs.
5. Node.js runtime.
6. Loopback framework (or similar frameworks).
7. Design Patterns.
8. MS SQL, MYSQL, PostgreSQL
9. Knowledge of full application architecture stack (server, networking, hosting, data modeling, data storage, business logic integration, API layer, monitoring and reporting)
10. Demonstrated experience applying design patterns as appropriate to development needs.
11. Solid experience with responsive design. Knowledge of accessibility design and related coding practices.
12. Experience with cloud hosting environments such as AWS, Microsoft Azure.
13. Solid understanding of the Agile development methodology: experience with project tracking tools such as Pivotal, JIRA.
14. Knowledge of MongoDB or MarkLogic is a plus.
15. Ability to work longer hours when required by project schedule.
