Summary :
Under limited direction, the General Manager provides strategic leadership and direction for all transit services and resources. This role serves as the chief advisor of the Transit District, establishing and implementing goals, plans, and policies to ensure efficient and cost-effective transit operations. The General Manager is the top executive responsible for interpreting and executing the Board's directives, acting as a liaison between the District and all employees.
Essential Duties :
- Direct and oversee department heads, including conducting performance evaluations, ensuring adherence to policies, and making staffing decisions.
- Align operations with District directives and goals to achieve organizational objectives.
- Manage the efficient operation of the transit system, ensuring safety and effectiveness in service delivery.
- Evaluate department performance against objectives; implement corrective actions as needed.
- Responsible for identifying and developing business growth opportunities.
- Develop, delegate, and oversee the implementation of plans, programs, and policies to support District goals.
- In partnership with the District's Director of Human Resources, lead personnel initiatives, including labor negotiations, wage administration, and workforce development.
- In partnership with the Director of Finance, oversee the District's financial operations, including budget preparation, monitoring, and cost control.
- Act as the District's representative to diverse stakeholders, including customers, employees, government entities, the Board of Trustees, funding partners, and others, while actively engaging with the community to ensure our services adapt to and meet their evolving needs.
