Industrial Sewing Machine Operator

The Industrial Sewing Machine Operator position to work in our New Product Development department. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable in upholstery, curtains and canvas awnings. In the New Product Development department, we design, engineer and build custom outdoor entertainment spaces. The job duties will also include working with team members on all parts of design build to produce the product.
· Required Skills and Responsibilities:
o Previous work in the Awning and Upholstery industry preferred.
o Knowledge of different types of sewing techniques, use of sergers and industrial sewing machines with various hand sewing tools to fabricate components.
o Able to read and understand control drawings; make and create patterns with organization skills.
o Keep a record book/notes for projects created.
o Will be asked to bring in samples of work and or photography of completed work or installations.
o A positive attitude is equal to the skills we require.
o Completes all job duties within given time constraints
o Cleans and maintains work area
· Job Requirements
o Attention to detail will be reviewed on all items produced.
o Able to work independently as well as with other team members to finish the job.
o A strong leadership in sewing best practices and material choices.
o Ability to follow verbal, hand sketches and written instructions
· Physical Requirements
o Must be physically capable of safely lifting a minimum of 30 pounds without assistance.
o Will be asked to pull and stretch larger sewn fabric pieces over aluminum structures like awning frames and seat cushions.
· Manufacturing Potential
oThe primary job duty will be to help with sewing, creating samples and one-off custom items. The job will also provide other opportunities to work in our CityScapes manufacturing warehouse on our current product lines. Based on the individual skill set of the seamstress, we will coordinate production work to match those skill sets in the warehouse or provide opportunity to learn new skills and trades.
