The Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients. The Licensed Veterinary Technician works to relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice. Licensed Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and most importantly, the client.
Essential qualifications:

Two years veterinary clinical experience preferred in general practice, specialty or emergency. Ability to triage critical patients and proactive with flow of busy case load

Must be CVT, LVT, RVT, or PVT in Colorado or another state, with full licensing with DORA in process

Surgical and anesthesia experience, including dental radiology, dental cleanings, sterile technique, and controlled substances protocols

Patient and proactive when training assistants and new technicians
- Understanding and ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals

Knowledgeable on veterinary medical terminology

Must be 18 years of age at time of hire

Must be available to work weekends as needed on a rotating schedule

Excellent communication, ability to work independently, strong technical skills in veterinary procedures, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
A day in the life:
- Assists the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental surgeries, including preparing clients for surgery by assisting in the administering of anesthesia and properly restraining the animals as needed for examination and treatment.

Supervise unlicensed team members completing the following tasks: sample collection, catheter placement, inducing and monitoring anesthesia, and take samples for lab testing purposes, knowledge of microscopic procedures,
- Under direct supervision of a Veterinarian, the Licensed Veterinary Technician may: suture to close existing surgical skin incisions and skin lacerations, induce anesthesia, administer rabies vaccine, extract loose teeth or dental fragments in dogs and cats only and euthanasia.
