Position title: Volunteer and Development Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Volunteer and Development Coordinator serves as an essential member of Civic Works’ volunteer and fundraising team by recruiting volunteers to support Civic Works’ programming and engaging donors and sponsors. This position will be responsible for volunteer project coordination and supporting donor outreach and stewardship.

Civic Works strengthens communities and promotes equity for people of all ages through education, skills development, and community service. Each year, 150 AmeriCorps members and 2,000 volunteers work with us to build brighter futures with job training and education, grow healthy food and green communities, and create safe and affordable homes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Volunteers
- Recruit groups and individuals to volunteer with Civic Works’ Community Landscaping Program and Real Food Farm and plan one-day projects with program staff.
- Recruit individuals to volunteer with Civic Works’ Affordable Produce Delivery Program and coordinate ongoing volunteer activities.
- Plan Civic Works’ annual Ricky Myers Day of Service, including volunteer recruitment and placement, site recruitment and coordination, and event logistics.
- Plan Civic Works’ annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, including volunteer recruitment and placement, site recruitment and coordination, and event logistics.
- Organize effective volunteer appreciation activities.
2) Development
- Assist in donor stewardship, including maintaining donor and funder records, preparing and sending donor acknowledgements, and planning donor events.
- Assist in new donor cultivation through volunteer events and communications and assisting with donor events and communications
- Participate in corporate sponsorship cultivation and stewardship
- Participate in writing and coordinating Civic Works’ fundraising appeals.
3) Other Duties
- Coordinate with program staff on a monthly basis to record program outcomes for the organization’s scorecard.
- Assist in planning the annual Tower Lighting event.
- Provide assistance for the bi-monthly board of directors meeting, committee meetings, and donor meetings. Tasks may include preparing reports, ordering catering, scheduling virtual meetings, and printing documents.
Qualifications
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred; may substitute work or volunteer experience for a degree.
- Experience in coordinating volunteer projects or planning events.
- Familiarity with customer service, donor relations, or client coordination preferred
- Experience using a database to track data and generate reports.
- Experience addressing multiple projects in time-sensitive manner, taking initiative and remaining flexible to ensure objectives are met accurately and on-time.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize workloads, exercise independent judgment, and maintain self-motivated and self-directed schedule
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Committed to maintaining the integrity of confidential communications and/or activities
- Ability to remain professional, courteous, cooperative, positive and effective in all interactions
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, or related software.
- Have a valid drivers license and the ability to travel to project sites in Baltimore City.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This position is 40 hours per week and requires on-site coordination of outdoor and indoor volunteer projects. Occasional availability on Saturday mornings is preferred.
- Hybrid position – the Volunteer and Development Coordinator is eligible to work remotely when they are not required to be at a project site or attend an in-person meeting.
