Integrated Voter Engagement Director, Charlotte
INTRODUCTION
Civic360, LLC is hiring a full-time Integrated Voter Engagement Director on behalf of the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters Foundation - Power the Vote NC (NCLCVF-PTVNC). This role involves nonpartisan integrated voter registration and education, community organizing and civic engagement programs around issues impacting communities of color. This is a temporary full time position with the possibility of extension.
NCLCVF-PTVNC seeks to further the NCLCVF mission to turn environmental values into NC priorities by engaging frontline communities through voter registration, advocacy, civic education, leadership development, organizing communities to connect environmental policies to people’s daily lives and lifting voices to “become the change that they want to see”.
The NCLCVF-PTVNC program is improving access to and trust in our democracy, so that communities that our country have historically left out of the decision-making process can reclaim their rightful influence. We do this by advocating for environmental policies, structural democracy reform, voter registration, voter education and transformational community.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Integrated Voter Engagement Director will serve in a critical role of helping to advance NCLCVF-PTVNC's civic engagement plan, including non-partisan voter registration campaigns, integrated voter engagement, community education and organizing and leading the implementation of electoral field work that empower voices and advocate around social and environmental issues affecting communities of color.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary responsibility and oversight for managing day-to-day operations of a team of field canvassers.
- Lead the identification, establishment, and management of a new office to serve as a hub for voter registration and civic engagement efforts in Charlotte, NC.
- Lead and direct voter registration campaign efforts and community organizing strategies, that include but not limited to, door-to-door canvassing, phone banking as well as digital-organizing and online engagement.
- Lead daily check-in team meetings to set goals that work to increase voter participation and engagement.
- Design and implement events to encourage informed and active voter participation through base building activities, site development including community events and direct outreach efforts.
- Manage the recruitment, training and supervision of team leads and canvassers; coach staff to implement effective field campaign strategies to ensure program goals are met.
- Organize and lead efforts to build a strong base of volunteers and partners that drive civic engagement activities focused on social and environmental justice priorities.
- Collaborate with local organizations (i.e., faith-based groups, social justice groups, etc.), volunteers and partners in coalition building efforts that result in connecting and advancing policy change efforts affecting people of color and other disenfranchised communities.
- Ensure that all program activities are properly tracked in data reporting systems and tools
- Lead team training efforts and delivery of relevant training materials to build team skills and capacity.
- Submit reports on the program progress, as needed, to the State Director to ensure goals are tracked and successfully achieved.
- Review and analyze data reports nightly to monitor progress and work closely with the Quality Control team to ensure issues and potential problems are appropriately flagged.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to foster strong integrated voter engagement (IVE) program for advocacy and electoral work in target region.
- Work closely with Civic360 leadership, the PTVNC team and staff to set and accomplish program goals.
- Ensuring programs are executed with a high standard of quality control, professionalism, appropriate long-range perspective, and in compliance with all applicable laws
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for candidates within the Charlotte, NC area to lead voter registration, integrated voter engagement and coalition building efforts within the target region. Successful candidates will be detail oriented and able to organize and manage many moving pieces in a dynamic and fluid office, along with the following qualities and skills:
- Proven experience in community organizing, event planning, or a related field.
- Demonstrated recruiting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with diverse communities and understanding their unique needs.
- Excellent problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
- Passion for civic engagement and non-partisan voter engagement efforts, shared commitment to voter access.

- Ability to work in office, outdoor, and virtual environments while observing protocols in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Willing to comply with strict rules against partisan activities or electioneering during work time.
- Experience using computers/handheld devices and willingness to be trained in voter registration process, tools and software.
- Must value learning and demonstrate commitment toward seeking out new ideas and opportunities for personal growth and improvement.
- Must be flexible, as plans continuously change.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of leadership or equivalent management experience
- Knowledge of MS Office (i.e. Excel), Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc.) and budget spreadsheets or other related software
- Preferred qualifications prior experience in canvassing, community organizing or civic engagement work.
- Has experience working with a diverse population and communities of color.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Position requires a valid state driver's license and an operational car that is registered and insured.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be willing to work sometimes long, irregular hours and to travel as needed with notice.
LOCATION, COMPENSATION, BENEFITS
Location: Charlotte, NC
Salary Range: Starting at $58,000 per year, paid weekly at $1115.39 per week
