SUMMARY :
The Deputy Chief Information Officer (Deputy CIO) plays a crucial role in shaping and executing the organization’s IT strategy under the direction of the CIO. This position leverages the individual’s leadership experience and expertise in application delivery management to enhance operational efficiency and support programmatic goals. The Deputy CIO ensures that technology initiatives align with The CAP mission and effectively meet the needs of CAP stakeholders.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
Oversees projects and assignments within the Information Technology (IT) department.
Leads efficient operation of the team so that prompt modernization and upgrades of IT are performed as needed.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Duties / Responsibilities / Essential Functions :
Strategic IT Leadership : Assist the CIO in developing and implementing the IT strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and enhancing the overall effectiveness of technology use across the organization.
Application Delivery Management : Oversee the delivery and management of technology applications, ensuring they meet the functional and performance requirements of the organization. Drive the selection, implementation, and optimization of application solutions.
Ensures that IT and network infrastructure adequately support the company’s computing, data processing, and communications needs.
Innovation and Improvement : Stay abreast of technological advancements and industry trends, identifying opportunities for innovation that can improve service delivery and impact.
Ensures compliance with organizational policies, applicable laws, and government regulations that apply to systems operations.
Budget and Resource Management : Support the CIO in managing the IT budget, forecasting future needs, and identifying opportunities for cost-effective solutions.
Risk and Security Management : Contribute to risk assessment efforts and implement strategies to protect organizational data and IT infrastructure from cybersecurity threats.
Performance Reporting : Provide regular updates to the CIO on the status of IT initiatives, project outcomes, and strategic goals.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Ability to apply IT governance frameworks and best practices.
Project management skills
Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance standards relevant to non-profits.
Ability to successfully apply grant management processes related to technology initiatives.
Expert knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and best practices in application management.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
Education, Experience, and Certifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in IT management, with a strong focus on application delivery and project management.
Must have 5 years’ experience in business process analysis or computer-related positions.
Must have excellent knowledge and understanding of enterprise business relationships and managing complex application delivery projects.
