Overview
The Crew Chief is responsible for leading a field survey crew, overseeing all aspects of a surveying project including data collection, equipment operation, safety procedures, and ensuring accuracy while performing various types of land surveys like boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking, often working under the supervision of a licensed land surveyor.
Essential Duties:
- Supervising and directing the survey crew
- Delegating and assigning tasks
- Ensuring safe and efficient workflow on the job site
- Strong understanding of surveying principles and techniques
- Proficiency with various survey equipment including standard and robotic total stations
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy
- Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions and plans
- Leadership and communication skills to manage a survey crew
- Problem-solving abilities to address challenges encountered in the field
- Familiarity with CAD software for data analysis and report generation
Requirements:
- Experience: 2-4 years
