Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Philanthropy Operations and Strategy, the Director, Prospect Management and Research oversees Prospect Development efforts at CJP including prospect management, prospect identification, and ongoing prospect research. The Director will work to ensure the implementation of proactive, strategic, and high-quality prospect management and research systems that will complement CJP’s evolving philanthropic model and will enable transformational philanthropy in the coming years.
Key Responsibilities
Enhance prospect management systems at CJP that support the development and execution of comprehensive moves management strategies and ensure effective assignment and tracking of prospects throughout the donor lifecycle.
Manage gift officer portfolio composition strategy and review process, with a focus on ensuring donor-centric portfolio assignments that prioritize philanthropic growth across annual, supplemental, and legacy giving.
Participate in regular donor strategy meetings and help inform fundraising strategies.
Partner with the Prospect Research Manager to ensure high-quality prospect research across all areas of development, including philanthropic growth, prospect identification, and due diligence.
Oversee the standardization of prospect research processes, policies, and documentation.
Identify and provide full and accurate research on individuals, companies and foundations with the capacity to make transformational gifts in support of CJP’s Priorities.
Work closely with Advancement leadership and campaign consultants to build a robust pipeline for a large comprehensive campaign effort and think creatively to align prospect strategies through the identification of networks, relationships, and interests that may drive strategies forward.
Collaborate with members of the development operations team and colleagues across CJP on ad hoc projects as needed.
Lead a small team of dedicated professionals, setting strategic goals, driving results, and supporting professional development across the team.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors or higher degree in a discipline appropriate for the position.
Experience
5-7 years of experience in fundraising operations, advancement services, prospect research, or prospect management
Skills/Competencies
Experience working on a comprehensive or capital campaign preferred
Progressively responsible experience managing prospect identification & research methods and directing a prospect management system in support of fundraising initiatives.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with, and sometimes develop, teams with diverse work styles.
Ability to prioritize tasks, balance multiple assignments, meet deadlines
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities.
Ability to analyze and interpret data
Strong organizational skills
Demonstrated experience setting and achieving ambitious goals
Familiarity with and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of leading CRM tools and technologies used in fundraising operations. Experience with Salesforce Non-Profit Cloud a plus
Organizational Relationships/Scope
Reports to Associate VP, Philanthropy Operations and strategy. Has one direct report.
Working Conditions
Hybrid Work Schedule: CJP staff follow a hybrid work model. On-site work is required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while remote work is an option on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, with occasional in-person meetings on those days.
Physical Requirements: This role involves remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods, primarily working at a computer. Staff need to be able to carry a laptop and bag to and from the office.
