Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a Counselor position. This is a part-time term-by-term, union, and non or benefits-eligible position. The role of the counselor in the institution is both responsive and active. As the needs of the students, faculty, administration, and the public vary, so does the orientation of the activities of counseling vary in response to these needs.The services provided by the department may be categorized as: direct services to individuals and groups, instructional services, program development and support, and liaison with individuals and groups on and off campus. The position may be divided into strictly counseling and strictly instruction, or retain the combination of both depending on the qualifications of the applicant pool.We expect this position to work two days per week.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSAssignments include, but are not limited to: Provide retention counseling using cohort based support and instruction.Provide successful educational and career planning to all students.Provide personal counseling/coaching.Inspire and support general retention and enrollment efforts throughout the college.Act as liaison to different divisions of the college.AUXILIARY FUNCTIONSMay provide assistance to other department personnel as workload and staffing levels dictate. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.

MINIMUM/MANDATORY EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSMaster's degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work, or a Master's degree in a related field with 27 quarter credits (18 semester hours) of graduate level counseling courses.Evidence of ability to present, collaborate and work with diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities. Demonstrated ability to provide and develop retention counseling strategies. Demonstrated ability to provide personal and career counseling and guidance. Demonstrated ability to document case progress and clinical case notes.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSEvidence of a respectful and positive attitude towards students and of the ability to motivate them to succeed. Ability to speak a second language. Bi-cultural background. Experience working in a community college environment. Clinical counseling experience.Counseling/social work license preferred.
