Pay And Benefits

Annual Pay Range: $118,961.90 - $160,599.19

Hourly Pay Range: $57.193219 - $77.211151

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

Generous Paid Time Off Package, Including

  • 16 hours of vacation accrual per month
    • Eligible newly hired employees will have the one-time option to frontload their first year of vacation accruals in compliance with EPP 66 - Vacation Leave ! This means you have access to vacation time at time of hire.
  • 8 hours of sick accrual per month
  • 10 paid holidays and 1 personal day per year

Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development is seeking a motivated, experienced, and collaborative leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills to join our Traffic Safety team as a Civil Engineering Supervisor. If selected for this position, your main focus will be on supervising and overseeing professional, field and support staff, as well as supervising project consultants, as necessary. You will be responsible for overseeing planning, budgeting, project definition, project management, and policy development.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. E.) in the State of Oregon. (Note: Proof of registration will be required prior to the final offer of employment is extended to the selected candidate. Registration in another state where registration was acquired by examination will temporarily fulfill this requirement, provided Oregon registration is obtained within one (1) year of hire.)
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in Civil Engineering, which must include work related to traffic engineering, operations, transportation infrastructure projects, and/or roadway and transportation systems
  • Experience leading or overseeing a group of professionals (Note: Lead work experience is defined as/includes leading the work of others, such as providing daily work direction and/or scheduling, assigning work, checking completed work, and training)

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • Experience directly supervising employees (Supervisory experience is defined as/includes providing daily work direction and/or scheduling, assigning work, checking completed work, training, coaching, maintaining confidentiality related to personnel records and issues, as well as conducting performance evaluations and taking corrective action when needed.)
  • Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) related software and general knowledge of hardware and communications systems to support devices
  • Experience developing and administering annual and supplemental budgets
  • Experience coordinating with local and regional agencies or jurisdictions regarding transportation safety related issues

TYPICAL TASKS

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise the traffic safety team and Motor Carrier Safety (MCS) team including monthly and annual reviews and addressing personnel issues.
  • Lead, mentor and actively participate in discussions, designs and implementation for roadway and traffic engineering-related work including traffic signals and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), signing, striping, development review, data collection and speed zones.
  • Lead and manage traffic-related capital improvement projects, work on public requests and complaints, small designs and other projects as required.
  • Participate in and lead transportation safety outreach, safety planning, media safety campaigns, outreach events and other work as required.
  • Support Transportation Maintenance and Disaster Management with traffic safety and incident management support.
  • Coordinate with other Transportation programs including Maintenance, Capital Projects, Development Review, and Planning.
  • Continually look for ways to be innovative in advancing traffic safety and operations in Clackamas County.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

Please Note: This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
