Clair Global Integration is growing and we're looking to add a skilled Lighting Designer to the team. The Lighting Designer is responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning lighting systems for a wide variety of entertainment venues, including themed attractions, hospitality, and production venues. Candidates should have extensive architectural and theatrical lighting experience. The role includes coordination with the Clair Engineering team as well as working closely with Clair's clients and other client vendors. This position would work in-office at our Lititz, PA location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design, program and integrate large scale lighting systems designed to meet the specific needs of entertainment venues.
- Develop design drawings using AutoCAD, Vectorworks, and Revit software.
- Perform engineering calculations for lighting system designs.
- Develop lighting system paperwork to industry standards incorporating all details of intended design.
- Work with Clair's purchasing staff to ensure the correct parts are ordered and received on schedule.
- Work with Clair's fabrication staff to provide direction when needed during the fabrication process.
- Prepare the lighting system equipment for the factory acceptance testing which is performed prior to delivery to site.
- Work on site to commission the lighting systems and perform the Site Acceptance Testing.
- Coordinate with outside (client) Lighting Designers to meet 3rd-party design intent.
- Supervise Lighting Installation and Focus; lead teams of technicians and/or electricians to complete lighting design and control intent.
QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the essential functions of this job while exercising independent judgment and discretion.
- Strong technical skills in lighting, including architectural and theatrical design and control. Additional skills in audio, video, LED or projection is a plus
- Basic competencies in networking, inclusive of subnetting, routing, VLANs, etc.
- Firsthand knowledge of compliance to industry recognized standards, performance specifications, local AHJ standards and code compliance, including NFPA101, NEC, and UL1008/924
- Excellent relationship skills are required to maintain positive relations with clientele
- Strong documentation, communication, organization, and time management skills
- Advanced working knowledge of role-specific software and lighting platforms such as: GrandMA, ETC Unison/Paradigm, ETC Mosaic/Pharos, Pathscape, Vectorworks, Revit, and AGI32.
- Proficiency in generalized software such as: Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, SketchUp
- Experience with assembly of lighting system panels and equipment racks
- Ability to read and understand design and engineering drawings including: (Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Lighting, Audio/Video, Show Set, Animation, Electronic Controls)
- Ability to work to deadlines in high-pressure situations
- Ability to plan strategically and must have a strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing, in person, and over the phone in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to work on a team, maintain a positive attitude, and be open to learning
- Must excel in a fast-paced, demanding, and continuously changing environment
- While the position does not have direct reports, the ability to motivate and lead a diverse group of team members is required

EXPERIENCE:
- Three (3) plus years of installed lighting system experience, or equivalent production lighting experience.
- Firsthand experience and/or exposure to managing entertainment integration projects above $1 mil in value
- Experience in project development and project coordination
- Knowledge of general engineering practices
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Develop project scope, timelines, and project status reports
- Maintain accurate project information and specifications
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines
- Develop documentation for new design and integration projects
- Work collaboratively with cross functional teams including personnel in Engineering, Fabrication, Installation, Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, Operations, Training, and Finance
- Work with workshop and installation staff to deploy systems optimally for a wide range of applications
- Think creatively to advance technology to find new ways of solving problems
- Lead training efforts
- Coordinate and manage engineering and fabrication change requests for documentation and processes
