JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Youth Housing Specialist
Location: Claremont, NH
Job Status: Full Time (1.0 FTE)
Salary Range: $36,000-$40,000
Hours: 4:00 P.M.- 12:00 A.M.
Travel: In-state travel is required; out-of-state travel may be required
Supervision: This position reports directly to the Oasis Program Coordinator
SCOPE OF WORK: This person will drive trauma-informed and positive youth development philosophies, ensuring all services are housing first and client-centered, focusing on positive family development. This person will work in a safe and supportive drop-in teen center and living environment and work on the development of active partnerships between local landlords, the Claremont Housing Authority, education providers, and health and mental health systems for the purpose of facilitating healing and recovery as well as for promoting the physical, social and emotional well-being of children, youth, and families who have experienced trauma.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Operations:
- Ensure effective day-to-day case management of the Oasis Teen Shelter and Support clients
- Create an inviting atmosphere so that each and every youth entering Oasis feels valued
- Provide ongoing interaction, and build trusting relationships with youth
- Assist youth with supportive services, including homework, life skills, and meal preparation
- Ensure that each youth residing in the shelter receives weekly follow-up check-ins to ensure their individual goals are met. Assist with connecting the youth with community resources, when necessary, to meet goals
- Participate in technical assistance, monitoring, and required DHHS training
- Complete program documentation and required reporting, ensuring that programs meet grant and contractual requirements
Fundraising:
- Participate in fundraising events-planning and implementation
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Minimum- High School Diploma. Preferred- Associate’s degree in social work, education, special education, counseling, juvenile justice, or a related field or a minimum of three years experience in a related field.
Experience: Three years experience in a related field is preferred
- Successful criminal check, no history of abuse, neglect, or exploitation
- Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and liability insurance coverage

- Strong verbal, writing, and computer skills to work with diverse populations of children, youth, families, co-workers, cross-agency stakeholders, and members of the public
- A good sense of humor
- Ability to engage individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Strong knowledge of public benefits, mental health, child welfare, and education systems
- Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality guidelines
- Organization skills, self-motivation, and ability to work under pressure, meeting deadlines with efficiency and consistency.
