Job Description:
Under the oversight of the Executive Director, the Community Development Coordinator (CDC) is responsible for leading core community revitalization efforts within Clarion County.
The CDC will serve as the primary coordinator for Clarion County Connect (Connect), a countywide initiative focused on community-centric economic development. This includes managing programs related to Main Street revitalization, blight remediation, redevelopment/reuse, and business district enhancements. The CDC will actively engage with community stakeholders to facilitate partnerships, secure funding, and implement strategies to enhance the quality of life and economic vitality in Clarion County.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage Clarion County Connect (Connect) as a place-based community development initiative.
- Serve as the primary facilitator, advocate, and representative for the CCEDC’s strategic efforts to revitalize main streets, downtown corridors, and business districts.
- Lead streetscaping, building/parcel repurposing, beautification, promotional activities/events, municipal engagement, and funding obtainment efforts.
- Foster collaboration among businesses, community organizations, municipalities, elected officials, and regional/state partners to support economic and community growth.
- Develop and facilitate committees, sub-committees, and/or teams that advance Connect’s goals and objectives.
- Provide direct support and advocacy for small businesses and entrepreneurs, ensuring their success within revitalization initiatives.
- Research and secure grant funding and additional resources to support community development projects.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the CCEDC Board of Directors and stakeholders.
- Develop and manage a volunteer base for community improvement efforts.
- Assist with promotion of community partner events, activities, and programs that align with community revitalization efforts.
- Assist with the CCEDC’s brownfield programs and objectives
- Assist with CCEDC financing programs
Position Objectives:
- Lead the revitalization and support efforts of Clarion County’s core communities.
- Promote the redevelopment and activation of underutilized buildings and parcels.
- Facilitate efforts to improve the appearance, accessibility, and functionality of Clarion County’s downtowns.
- Cultivate relationships with businesses, nonprofits, government entities, and economic development stakeholders to strengthen community partnerships.
- Develop task-oriented partnerships that advance the county’s economic and community development strategies.
Qualifications:
- Preferred, Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- 2-3 years of experience in community & economic development, public administration, or a related field.
- Self-motivated and able to manage projects with minimal direction.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in technology, MS Office, and digital communication tools.
- Experience in grant research/writing (preferred but not required).
- Understanding of municipal planning and economic development principles (preferred but not required).
Hours/Travel:
- Full-time position
- Local travel during business hours is expected.
- Occasional regional travel during non-business hours is expected.
- Occasional evening/weekend hours may be required.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary range: $42,000 - $45,000 (based on experience).
