Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time Tenure-track Nursing Professor. The successful candidates will work within a team to teach a combination of in-person didactic, clinical, and lab courses. A background in acute or intensive care in nursing is preferred. Other nursing backgrounds and combinations of nursing experience will be considered. Department and college service work is expected with the position as assigned by the division or college to support the institutional mission and goals, the foremost being student success and retention.  One position is available and begins September 12, 2025. This position is located at the Clark College Building at the Washington State University Vancouver (WSUV) campus.

FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instruct all classes as an expert in the discipline using active learning approaches that both engage and facilitate student learning.
  • Instruct all classes effectively utilizing technology (e.g. learning management systems, web-based simulations, or other) as part of course design and implementation to facilitate student learning and success.
  • Provide appropriate means to assess student progress and provide timely feedback.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the mission and vision of the College and department, the student population, and educational goals
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, local industry, advisory committees, and other educational partners to create sustainable learning opportunities at Clark College.
  • Advise and assist students in educational and career development.
  • Coordinate with clinical partners to promote sufficient, safe, and effective clinical learning experiences for students.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clinical partners.
  • Attend and participate in discussion and decision-making processes at required department and college committees.
  • Pursue professional development that strives to enhance teaching and learning in the department and college, including staying current in the discipline, relevant educational pedagogy, and instructional technology.
  • Actively engage in department efforts to integrate social determinants of health and culturally responsive curriculum.
  • Obtain and maintain vocational certification, nursing licensure, and other industry certifications related to the assigned role 
  • Engage in ongoing curriculum review and development.
  • Participate in program review and outcomes assessment activities that impact student success.
  • Maintain department standards and policies.
  • Participate in maintaining program accreditation.

POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • A graduate degree in Nursing or a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a graduate degree in a health or education-related field by time of hire.
  • Three (3) full-time equivalent years of registered nursing experience.
  • Washington and Oregon RN license by time of hire.

SALARY STATEMENT:

Starting faculty salary is $83,227 (non-negotiable). Faculty may be eligible to advance every other year; current top step is $110,332.  Nursing faculty receive additional pay as a nursing salary supplement. The amount for the 2025-2026 contract year is still under negotiation. The rates for the current contract are as follows: 31.5% salary supplement and $24,000 stipend.

Salary is for a 173-day contract; additional compensation is available for summer and moonlight teaching, and doctoral and vocational stipends. 

Please note the faculty salary may be adjusted for the 2025-2026 year pending the legislatively funded cost-of-living.

Please note that upon being hired, Washington Administrative Code (WAC) and the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) require a Vocational Certification plan be in place prior to the first day of classes. Under the standard specified in WAC 131-16-070 through 131-16-094 Vocational Certification is a condition of continued employment for all professional technical education personnel.
