CLASS TITLE: Instructional Specialist
REPORTS TO: Chief Academic Officer
BASIC FUNCTION: Provides leadership coaching assistance in the areas related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Assists staff in revising and implementing the curriculum.
Assists staff in analyzing state and local assessments.
Assists staff in designing lessons.
Organizes and conducts staff development activities for school personnel.
Modeling “best practices” in classrooms.
Assist schools in writing grants.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Student Achievement, Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment or Superintendent.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
Kentucky Administrative Regulations governing the assessment of students.
Knowledge of best practice research in instructional areas.
Knowledge of modeling standards-based curriculum development.
Knowledge of designing and implementing workshops and programs.
Ability to:
Work successfully with people.

To interpret test results and develop instructional strategies to correct weaknesses.
To assist building personnel in incorporating research-based instructional strategies in to the curriculum to demonstrate increased student learning.
To write distinctly and to organize data and presentations.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Holds a Master’s Degree and required Kentucky Teaching certificate for the assigned position.
Five (5) years successful teaching experience or state experience.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Experience in planning, developing, and conducting in-service programs.
