What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Associate position at Clarke County Public Hospital?
Lab Specimen Collection
- Obtains specimens from patients using appropriate specimen collection and handling procedures.
- Prepares specimens by labeling, handling, processing, transportation and proper storage
- Awareness of factors that influence test results
Specimen Processing
- Performs specific laboratory tests following the policy
- Follows all laboratory standard procedures
- Performs and documents quality control required prior to reporting patient results
- Operates laboratory equipment. Performs and documents instrument maintenance
- Maintains proper laboratory records
- Participates in proficiency testing
- Performs other duties as directed by supervisor or designee
- Cooperates with other health professionals with effective communication to maintain good working relationships throughout the facility.
- Able to easily understand complex instructions
- Able and willing to maintain strict level of confidentiality regarding laboratory results and records
- Follow all facility, laboratory and safety policies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Work may occasionally require travel to local skill care facilities. Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
