Job Summary
: Reporting to the VP of Operations, the National Airfreight Product Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, management, and optimization of the company's airfreight services across the United States. This role involves defining and executing the product strategy, managing relationships with air carriers and vendors, and ensuring competitive pricing and profitability. The Product Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and customer service, to deliver high-quality, efficient airfreight solutions that meet market demands and enhance customer satisfaction. Additionally, the role requires monitoring industry trends, ensuring compliance with regulations, and continuously improving service offerings to maintain a leadership position in the airfreight sector.

What You’ll Do:


Product Development & Strategy

  • Develop and implement the national airfreight product strategy, ensuring alignment with overall company goals and market demands
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor offerings to identify new airfreight opportunities
  • Design and enhance airfreight services to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and expand service offerings

Pricing & Profitability

  • Set and manage pricing strategies for airfreight services to ensure competitive positioning and profitability
  • Work closely with finance and sales teams to optimize margins while maintaining service quality
  • Regularly review and adjust pricing structures based on market conditions, fuel surcharges, and other factors

Vendor & Carrier Management

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key air carriers, ensuring optimal service levels, capacity, and competitive rates
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with air carriers and freight partners to secure favorable terms
  • Monitor carrier performance, addressing any service issues, delays, or disruptions that impact customers

Customer Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, providing personalized airfreight solutions
  • Address customer concerns, offering timely resolutions and improving overall satisfaction
  • Work closely with sales teams to identify opportunities for upselling or expanding service offerings with existing clients

Operations & Service Excellence

  • Oversee the operational efficiency of airfreight shipments, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Address operational challenges such as customs issues, capacity constraints, and unforeseen delays, providing timely solutions
  • Ensure compliance with international regulations, including IATA (International Air Transport Association) guidelines, and government standards for airfreight

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Collect and analyze data on airfreight market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions
  • Provide regular reports on airfreight product performance, highlighting key metrics such as revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency
  • Monitor industry regulations and changes in air cargo laws, ensuring the company stays ahead of compliance requirements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with sales, operations, and customer service teams to ensure seamless airfreight service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Work with the marketing team to create promotional materials and campaigns for
    airfreight services
  • Support the sales team with training, product knowledge, and sales tools related to
    airfreight offerings


What You’ll Need
:

  • In-depth knowledge of air cargo operations, shipping processes, and industry regulations (e.g., IATA standards, U.S. DOT regulations)
  • Proven ability to develop, manage, and optimize product offerings, particularly in the airfreight sector
  • Strong negotiation skills with air carriers and freight partners, including experience managing vendor contracts and relationships
  • Ability to analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs to inform strategic product decisions
  • Experience in setting pricing strategies, managing profitability, and working with financial teams to optimize margins
  • Several years of experience in airfreight, logistics, or freight forwarding, with a strong understanding of global supply chains
  • Experience negotiating and managing relationships with air carriers and logistics partners
  • Proven track record in developing and executing product strategies, particularly for airfreight or related services
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, customs procedures, and international shipping requirements
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects or teams, ensuring timely delivery and successful product rollouts


Physical Demands
:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Able to travel as needed.
