Clay County Clerk’s Office is taking job applications for an opening for a Full-Time Office Assistant. Working hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 AM through 4PM with a starting pay at $18.00/hour. Applications are also available at the Clay County Clerk’s office at 111 West Fairfield Street in Clay Center and will be reviewed as they are received.
Position Summary: The Office Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. The Office Assistant works under supervision of the Clay County Clerk / Election Commissioner.
Essential Job Functions
- Answer and direct phone calls.
- Assist with preparing claims for payment.
- Maintain real estate records with recording and data entry.
- Assist with levy valuations and budget.
- Daily timeclock support and maintaining voter records.
- Provide payroll and election administration support.
- All other duties as assigned.
Preferred Talents
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to think critically.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to interact positively with the public, volunteers, Board members, County staff, and state personnel.
- Ability to carry out written or oral instructions independently.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as an office assistant.
