The Estimator will be responsible and accountable for reviewing project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine project scope and requirements utilizing historical data, industry knowledge, and estimation software to accurately forecast costs for materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses accurately. This role interacts internally and externally, daily, and with people from various levels of the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal partners (Field Construction Manager, Sales Manager, Operations etc.,) to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for project scope.
- Establish Critical Path Method for all projects once awarded and participate in Pre-Construction meetings for newly awarded contracts in partnership with Project Managers and Field Construction Managers.
- Understand crew, equipment, and material needs for awarded projects in partnership with the Field Manager and Sales Manager.
- Collaborate with suppliers, material pricing, specifications, and Field Construction Manager on material, equipment, and subcontractor needs for awarded projects.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and requirements.
- Process paperwork (contract review, submittals, pay applications, close out documents, change orders, etc.)
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 -5 years of experience in estimating commercial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes.
- Experience with project coordination and working closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with construction management.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and people skills.
- Strong documentation skills and processes.
- MS Office Products and strong Excel knowledge
