We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our dynamic team as an Estimator. This is a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader in the construction field. Responsibilities
As a Permanent Estimator, you will play a critical role in our organization. Your responsibilities will include
- Preparing detailed cost estimates by analyzing the plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for specific disciplines.
- Reviewing data to determine material and labor requirements and preparing the itemized lists.
- Computing cost factors and preparing estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
- Conducting special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
- Consulting with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Reviewing material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
- Preparing cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
- Preparing and maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, project bidding, and material take-off.
- A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and equipment.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software, such as estimating software, spreadsheets, and database software.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, organize, and prioritize responsibilities.
- A keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of the financial impacts of technical decisions.
