PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER
JOB TITLE: PARK MAINTENANCE (SEASONAL)
DEPARTMENT: PARKS AND RECREATION/PARK SERVICES
MUST MEET MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be 16 years of age or older; must possess a valid driver’s license or a picture I.D. and an original social security card. May be required to work 25 hours per week. Good physical health. Must be comfortable working outside in summer conditions. Must be available for work on weekends and holidays.
NATURE OF WORK: The purpose of this position is to work with other seasonal employees performing manual labor, maintenance, and repair work for the purpose of maintaining and repairing Clayton County International Park.
SOME OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES INCLUDE: Performs general ground maintenance to include: grass cutting, trimming, edging, cutting of shrubs, pruning trees, landscaping grounds, and weed control of grounds; performs maintenance and of Park buildings, grounds, facilities, equipment, and structures to ensure the facility is ready each day for the general public; garbage policing and control; cleaning of grills, pavilions, park equipment, vehicles, sidewalks, parking lots, policing of park lakes and picnic areas and perimeter fence area inside and outside; cleaning and upkeep of bathroom facilities; prepares pavilions and buildings for functions, setting up chairs and tables to service the functions and ensuring clean up during the post function phase; maintain assigned tool and equipment used in ground maintenance of park; performing preventive maintenance and routine repair on tools and equipment as needed; ensuring tools and supplies are properly cleaned, stored, and secured; maintaining order in equipment storage area; providing information, assistance and directions to the general public regarding the Park and facilities. Performs other related duties as required.
Tasks require the regular and sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling and that generally involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds). Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, and rain.
SELECTION PROCEDURE: Selection will be made from a register of eligible applicants that may be established by education, work experience, test score, personal interview, credit check, criminal history, driving history (copy of driver’s license may be required), drug screen, and/or physical examination.
