What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Outreach Coordinator position at Clean Communities of Central New York?
Clean Communities of CNY, in partnership with the City of Ithaca, is seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator on a part-time, temporary (6-month) basis. This position aims to help the City of Ithaca, as part of its Ithaca Green New Deal and Justice 50 initiatives, plan its local clean transportation future.
Job Description:
- Work with local community groups and individuals to understand their needs, as well as the City of Ithaca’s departments to build interdepartmental collaboration and coordination.
- Facilitate engagement forums such as hosting community listening sessions and tabling, developing communications materials and social media, while assisting in the creation of a roadmap to guide the City of Ithaca in continuing clean transportation planning after the position ends.
Location:
- This position will be hired by Clean Communities of Central New York through funding from the (NREL) National Renewable Energy Lab. The City of Ithaca (City Hall) will host, supervise and provide office space
Preferred Skills:
- Interdepartmental collaboration
- Community relationships, especially with diverse communities in the City of Ithaca and surrounding areas of Tompkins County
- Knowledge of transportation system options, especially clean transportation
- Experience creating roadmaps
- Social media and communication materials
Education:
- This position will equally value work experience with formal educational experience
