What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Vehicle Mechanic position at Clean Harbors?
The Lead Diesel Mechanic is a critical role at Clean Harbors, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shop. This includes supervising all maintenance work, ensuring company fleet compliance with DOT regulations, and maintaining service and parts records.
This individual will be expected to prioritize Health and Safety above all else, adhering to safe work practices, policies, and processes. They will perform preventative maintenance, conduct inspections, troubleshoot issues, diagnose failures, and make necessary corrections.
A key aspect of this role is conducting daily checklists, performing offsite road repairs and service calls, and communicating any problems or issues with the unit immediately upon discovery. Additionally, they will ensure that equipment is properly parked in accordance with facility permits and DOT requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of various systems, including electrical, computer, ECMs, fuel, air, ABS, hydraulic systems, and engines. They will also demonstrate complete proficiency in diagnostic, repair, and maintenance of units such as heavy-duty forklifts, roll-off trucks, tractors, tankers, and other specialized vehicles.
