Job Description:
CleanJoule is seeking to hire (6) six full-time on-site Plant Process Operators for our operations and demonstration pilot plant facility located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Plant Process Operators will be responsible for operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and the maintenance of all demonstration plant processing equipment used in our automated chemical facility.
As part of this role, Plant Process Operators will be responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, basic repair, and cleaning of all equipment associated with the bioprocessing processes. At times, Plant Process Operators may be asked to assist other staff in more technical and complex maintenance procedures. Additionally, in this position you will be required to maintain knowledge of the process flow, computerized equipment, and be aware of hazards associated with the process as well as understand and execute standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
Continuous plant operation requires 12-hour shift work. Plant Process Operators must be able to adapt to 12-hour workdays and be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.
Responsibilities:
· Use your knowledge to maintain and operate all processes associated with the plant where required. This includes start-up, shut-down, cleaning, batching, troubleshooting, maintenance, and record keeping.
· Collect and test quality control samples, interpret QA/QC results and make adjustments to optimize plant operations, timely and accurately document results and enter results.
· Operate the DCS (Distributed Control System) and PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controller) for the plant.
· Monitor system which includes:
o Observing pressure, temperature and relative humidity measurements on charts or computer monitors.
o Turning valves and adjusting controls to ensure the safe operation of the equipment.
o Observe process and monitor systems to detect malfunctions and assist with repairs as needed.
o Documenting and recording process readings.
o Report system problems to the appropriate manager.
· Assist in removal, installation, rebuild, and performance of preventive and predictive maintenance on all equipment associated with plant process.
· Perform basic electrical troubleshooting as required.
· Perform daily and weekly equipment preventative maintenance tasks.
· Assist with keeping the plant clean by following the sanitation schedule and completing all tasks as assigned.
· Notify the management team of safety, environmental, quality and production concerns, problems, and opportunities.
· Willingness to work shifts in a fully continuous multi-shift operation.
· Assists with other tasks as assigned by Manager.
Qualifications:
Education:
· Process Technology Degree/Certificate preferred, or a Vocational Degree/Certification focused in technical, mechanical, or electrical preferred. Additionally, graduates with a BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical may apply. The minimum requirement is a High School Diploma or GED.
Experience and Knowledge:
· Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of prior experience working in a process environment or in a process maintenance position.
· Ability to read and comprehend procedures written in English.
· Experience with chemicals and chemical processes is desired.
· Prior experience handling flammable chemicals is preferred.
· Technical understanding and manual dexterity are required.
· Mechanical aptitude is preferred.
· Demonstrated effective written/verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
· Demonstrated proficiency in common computer tools and web-based applications is required.
· A strong attention to detail.
· Prior experience successfully participating in work teams where personal accountability, attention to detail, collaboration, and results were required.

Work Environment:
· Plant Process Operators will be required to adhere to all safety requirements at all times and in all work environments. This position is exposed to work in multiple environments, including plant, laboratory, as well as an office environment. This role involves exposure to various manufacturing conditions, including noise and moving machinery, external temperature/weather conditions, and chemicals.
· Due to the physical and safety sensitive nature of this job, you will be subjected to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process.
· Must be able to use the following equipment/tools, with training provided (not all encompassing): forklift, pallet jack, hoist systems, scissor lifts, front end loaders, power washer, other style lifts, and various hand tools.
Physical Demands:
· This role has some physical requirements that our Process Operators will need to be able to perform, such as:
o Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, respirator, chemical suit, hearing protection, and harness.
· Successful candidates should be prepared for a physically demanding role that includes:
o Walk indoors and outdoors sometimes over rough, uneven, or wet/slick surfaces.
o Climb stairs and/or ladders.
o Reach at arm’s length to gather samples.
o Use coordination and grip, with a force of up to 50 pounds.
o Bending.
o Pulling.
o Prolonged standing or sitting.
· Must have safe work habits and perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies.
