Location: This is an in-office position in our Santa Barbara, CA, office, with the opportunity for a hybrid arrangement.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage the entire Construction team—from staffing and structure to performance and resources.
- Oversee project schedules, ensuring workloads align with capacity, productivity stays high, and growth happens when needed.
- Collaborate with clients and support business development efforts, playing a key role in sales generation.
- Develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficient and effective workflows.
- Mentor and grow talent, providing career development plans, coaching, and performance management.
- Ensure a healthy, safe, and positive work environment, promoting a culture that aligns with our core values.
- Direct all budgeting, planning, and technical aspects of projects, reviewing deliverables for accuracy before client hand-off.
- Manage financial objectives, including departmental budgeting and forecasting.
- Work closely with other managers to ensure smooth interdepartmental workflows.
- Participate in leadership meetings, contributing to strategic planning and company-wide objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- 10 years of construction project management experience, leading complex, multi-million-dollar projects.
- Proven team leadership skills, including mentoring senior staff and developing junior team members.
- Expertise in Procore and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Projects, Excel, Word).
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, methods, materials, and regulations.
- Experience managing budgets exceeding $20M with solid cost control skills.
- Familiarity with fiscal management tools (Sage, QuickBooks).
- In-depth understanding of OSHA standards and on-site safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and expectations.
- A strategic mindset with a knack for process optimization and problem-solving.
- Self-starter mentality, capable of working independently and taking initiative.
- AA or BA degree (highly desirable, but not required).
- Experience in high-end residential construction projects.
