POSITION SUMMARY
The Upholstery Associate will be responsible for executing custom fabric work that meets our design and quality standards. They will coordinate with our Customer Service and Warehouse department


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Fit, install and secure material on frames, using hand tools, power tools, glue or staples
Read work orders, and apply knowledge and experience with materials to determine types and amounts of materials required to cover workpieces
Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or material requirements.
Build furniture up with loose fiber stuffing, cotton, felt or foam padding to form smooth, rounded surfaces.
Draw cutting lines on material following patterns, templates, sketches, or blueprints, using chalk, pencils, paint or other methods.
Measure and cut new covering materials, using patterns and measuring and cutting instruments, following sketches and design specifications.
Operate sewing machines or sew upholstery by hand to seam cushions and join various sections of covering material.
Collaborate with Operations Department team members to ensure projects are completed on time.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
Basic knowledge of using and operating upholstery machinery and equipment
Ability to work as a team and coordinate workings with both warehouse staff and office personnel
Must have positive attitude, ability to work with limited supervision and desire to work hard
Prior upholstery experience preferred
Time management skills. Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize tasks efficiently
High school diploma or a GED equivalent certificate required


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
The employee will be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl up to 8 hours per work day. The employee will be occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, frequently lift objects up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects more than 100 pounds. The warehouse climate is subject to fluctuate with the outside temperature and may be subject to significant changes in heat and cold given the season
