Job Description
The director of clinical informatics will be responsible for the development and execution of clinical workflows related to the functionality and optimization of the electronic medical record and other clinical technology applications. The director will work in conjunction with clinical education, information technology, nursing, ancillary/support, and the medical group to develop and implement short and long term goals to advance the mission of Company. This individual will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team of clinical informaticists/trainers that are focused on advancing technology, improving workflows, and providing hands on support and education to our clinicians. Directs the planning, development, management and adoption of patient engagement and clinical information technologies across the enterprise to drive and promote organizational goals. Serves as a liaison between the clinical, financial, quality, reporting, medical staff office, and technical disciplines. Applies critical thinking and analysis of clinical workflows while integrating information technology into clinical practices. Leverages clinical information systems to promote organizational consistency and efficiency through streamlined and optimized workflows. Directs and mentors a clinical informatics team to design & optimize systems design to meet the needs of interdisciplinary end users, including physicians, nurses, ancillary, clinical and administrative staff. The director will report directly to the system COO or CNO with dotted lines to the Physician executive for Company and system CIO.
Required Education: Master's Degree, Current Ohio Nursing Licensing
Major Area of Concentration: Nursing, Nursing Informatics
Preferred Education: DNP or PhD in Nursing/Informatics or related field is preferred
Required Certifications: Epic
Required Experience: 6 years clinical nursing, education, or informatics

Job Specific Essential Functions:
Directs the planning, development, management and adoption of patient engagement and clinical information technologies across the enterprise to drive and promote organizational goals
Develops and evaluates departmental annual budget.
Manages direct reports to include, but not limited to interviewing, hiring, training, developing of goals and expectations, conducting performance reviews, salary
Promotes best practices of informatics to maximize efficiency of clinical technology systems and support evidence-based practice
Performs needs assessment and gap analysis as needed to identify process improvement opportunities
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Excellent problem-solving skills. Self-motivated, innovative, and resourceful
Able to create and execute on the development of a robust clinical informatics program
Conducts education and training to clinical informatics team and interdisciplinary teams as needed related to informatics expertise
Develops and implements training plans for new employees and on-going education
Leverages clinical information systems to promote organizational consistency and efficiency through streamlined and optimized workflows Mobility/Dexterity Requirements
Collaborates with medical staff and health system operational teams on system-wide committees
