Duties & Responsibilities :
- Damage Prevention and Risk Mitigation :
- Develop and implement programs to protect network infrastructure from potential damage, often caused by construction or excavation activities.
- Includes attending large project meetings.
- Onsite visits with contractor to ensure they know the policy related with these projects and their responsibility along with that of the locator.
- Educating both the excavators and the locators with these will prevent damages that would occur.
- Conduct site assessments and risk analysis to identify potential damage risks and develop preventive measures.
- Regular Field Audits of locate tickets for marked facilities (Ensuring they are closed / correct)
- Coordination with Contractors and Stakeholders :
- Work with homeowners, construction teams, subcontractors, and utility companies to ensure safe excavation practices around fiber infrastructure.
- Coordinate with local municipalities and third-party contractors to monitor construction activities that could impact the ISP's infrastructure.
- Monitoring and Compliance :
- Monitor adherence to federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., the Call Before You Dig 811 program in the U.S.) to prevent accidental damage during digging or other construction activities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies for safe handling of OSP facilities.
- Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis :
- Investigate any damage incidents to the network, documenting root causes and creating reports.
- Use findings from incidents to refine damage prevention programs and implement corrective actions.
- Public Awareness and Training :
- Develop and lead educational programs for employees, contractors, and the public on safe digging practices to prevent damage to underground infrastructure
- Offer ongoing training and guidance to field teams and contractors on best practices in damage prevention.
- Data Tracking and Reporting :
- Track and analyze damage incidents and near-misses to identify trends and improve prevention strategies.
- Prepare regular reports on damage incidents, costs, and prevention efforts to provide insight to senior management.
- Response Coordination and Repair Management :
- In cases of damage, coordinate rapid response teams to address and repair the network promptly, minimizing downtime for customers.
- Oversee repair processes and follow-up actions to ensure full restoration of service and infrastructure integrity.
