Clean Energy Economy for the Region (CLEER) works to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy, increase energy independence and reduce our contribution to climate change. Based in Carbondale, CO, CLEER helps communities achieve measurable progress on clean energy and climate goals. As a nonprofit consultancy, CLEER manages multiple programs and projects in western Colorado and statewide, including Garfield Clean Energy, ReCharge Colorado (14 counties) and the Colorado Clean Diesel Program.
The Clean Mobility Program Manager will lead CLEER’s multi-pronged approaches to decarbonizing transportation, including advancing transportation electrification and programs that also encourage multi-modalism and reduce demand for driving. The ideal candidate is passionate about decarbonizing transportation and has basic knowledge of electric vehicles and clean mobility approaches, and the desire and willingness to continually learn to keep pace with the rate of change in the field. The candidate also ideally has experience interacting with a variety of local governments, agencies and businesses. This is a full-time, salaried position based in CLEER’s Carbondale office.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee CLEER’s work as part of our organization’s role with the Colorado Energy Office’s ReCharge program in a 14-county region :
- Organize EV outreach events, including consumer education and ride and drives
- Conduct outreach for EV charging station development; provide support on grants
- Organize EV workshop support (outreach, logistics and partner engagement)
- Lead implementation of Garfield Clean Energy’s EV Readiness Action Plan
- Support the Garfield Clean Energy Collaborative in reaching clean mobility goals
- Provide support and pursue grant writing to support further development of clean transportation
- Be knowledgeable on EVs; provide individual coaching to constituents in ReCharge territory on EV purchases; make EV 101 presentations
- Help develop ongoing systems to efficiently provide information to a broader, larger audience
- Maintain an understanding of all mobility-related rebate and incentive programs throughout the territory across clean mobility modes
- Collaborate on conversations surrounding multimodal transportation options with an emphasis on a regional approach
- Work with a team to conduct outreach and events for active transportation including biking and walking
- Play a supporting role on developing informational materials and other program events as needed
- Play an active role in fundraising, securing sponsorships and growing partnerships to grow transportation decarbonization efforts
- Work with the CLEER team to plan and manage transportation budgets
- Bachelor’s degree in a field that provides background knowledge on sustainable transportation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness and ability to travel within the western Colorado region, and periodically to Denver for meetings and events
- Commitment to continual learning and continued professional development with a potential for increased responsibility
- Commitment to CLEER’s mission and goals of reaching energy efficiency, climate protection and clean mobility goals
- Experience interacting with a variety of stakeholders including local governments, government agencies, subdivisions of local government, state agencies and businesses
- Experience managing contracts and grants
- Knowledge of existing EV models, infrastructure and rebates
- Weekend (and some evening) availability for events and workshops
- 65,000-$80,000 annual salary, commensurate with experience, with opportunity for advancement
