What are the responsibilities and job description for the Contract- Safety Coordinator- 3rd shift position at Clemens Family Corporation?
Computer Skills: SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel only.
Of the 8 hour shift, see this position at the computer/desk for one hour per shift maximum. Translates to 85 to 90% of their time during the assigned shift on the production floor with remaining time for computer/desk work and breaks.
Interview Process: Approximately two (2) hours onsite maximum. 45 minute to 1 hour site walk, and 30 minute to 1 hour Interview with Q/A.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primarily walking the plant/shop floor during the sanitation process.
- Observe/Monitor for Unsafe Conditions and Unsafe Behaviors with the eye to correct them.
- Unsafe Conditions: Broken equipment such as hoses, chemicals not containerized, and defective ladders and railings, etc.
- Unsafe Behaviors: lack of lockout/tagout (“LOTO”), spraying of water or chemicals in the direction of others, lack of personal protective equipment (“PPE”).
- Audit the above employee behaviors and conditions through use of Area Audit Checklist.
- Assist Sanitation Safety Supervisor (“SSS”) with the investigations of incidents, injuries, illnesses and accidents. Potentially help SSS enter details of the incidents into computer database.
- Assist in connecting any employee in need of medical treatment with the onsite 3rd party EMT.
- Capture any and all Safety Near-Misses with their corrective actions in an Excel database.
- Strong presence and character to identify, stop and corrective unsafe employee behaviors.
- Able to collaborate with SSS, Operations, and Maintenance to resolve any discovered unsafe conditions.
- Support and occasional delivery of safety related trainings, and collection of recordkeeping from those trainings. Trainings could be on topics including cleaning techniques and procedures, machine guarding and hazardous energy control (LOTO), and handling and use of sanitation chemicals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in sanitation, safety, or food handling are desirable.
- Prior experience in Safety is a plus and highly desirable.
- Experience in Sanitation a plus and highly desirable.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., USDA, FDA, OSHA) related to sanitation, safety, and food handling in the meat packing industry a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify potential hazards or instances of non-compliance in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong communication skills with interpersonal skills to correct unsafe behaviors and to resolve unsafe conditions.
- Basic Microsoft based computer skills for communication, training recordkeeping and data collection along with SharePoint.
