About the Role
Reporting to the Director, the Community Engagement Manager is a key leadership role responsible for elevating the Library's visibility, deepening community connections, and amplifying our story across multiple platforms. You'll shape and execute strategic marketing and communications efforts, oversee an energetic and talented team, and serve as the Library's liaison to media, partners, and the public. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Community Engagement team with vision and support.
- Create and implement dynamic marketing, PR, and communications strategies.
- Oversee all promotional content-from press releases and newsletters to eye-catching graphics, social media, and website content.
- Build and nurture strategic partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and local media.
- Serve as the Library's public spokesperson and trusted media contact, including crisis management communications.
- Prepares talking points and internal messaging to support staff communication around new services, changes, or emerging issues.
- Collaborate with departments system-wide to support programs, events, and initiatives.
- Guide the department budget and ensure efficient operations and resource use.
- Stay ahead of trends in communications, marketing, and public library services.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, PR, Communications, or related field.
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience with proven leadership skills.
- Exceptional writing, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- A strategic mindset with a passion for storytelling and brand-building.
- Tech-savvy with hands-on experience in social media, graphic design, website management (Wix or similar), Adobe Creative Suite, video editing (iMovie or similar), and Microsoft Office.
- PRSA certification and knowledge of library operations are a plus.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and special events.
