Diller Teen Fellows is recognized as a premier identity-building and leadership development program for Jewish teens. Established in San Francisco in 1998 by the Helen Diller Family Foundation, the program provides a cutting-edge model for experiencing Jewish pluralism and Peoplehood.

Today, Diller has 32 participating communities in seven countries; each community selects a cohort of twenty teens to participate in the yearlong Fellowship experience. Diller’s network of more than 8,000 alumni leaders is actively engaged in making a difference in their communities, Israel, and the Jewish people.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Associate Community Engagement Manager is a new addition to the Education Team, which currently includes four Community Engagement Managers (referred to internally as “Mentors”) who provide ongoing support to Diller Teen Fellows communities, with a focus on mentoring Diller Coordinators in each of the 32 partner communities / 16 global Partnerships to ensure their successful implementation locally, in Partnership, and as part of the global Diller network. This position will help to provide direct support and mentorship to an assigned cluster of Coordinators representing four Partnerships, while shadowing a Community Engagement Manager. The goals of this team are to build relationships with and empower Coordinators as educators, ensure achievement of program outcomes, and foster a sense of belonging to the Global Coordinator Network. The Associate Community Engagement Manager will bring an outside educational perspective while learning in-person and virtually about Diller’s core educational experiences and goals.

This role is remote, located in Central or Eastern Time Zone with some travel required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participate in in-person and virtual educational experiences and trainings to gain a deep understanding of Diller’s educational philosophy and methodologies.
  • Work with the Associate Director and Director of Education to develop new or expanded educational approaches where appropriate.
  • Assist in the training of local Coordinators in all aspects of the program, through one-on-one conversations, webinars, and seminars.
  • Support Coordinators in building the local educational program plan in accordance with their vision and Diller program guidelines.
  • Assist Coordinators in working with the local Diller staff team, including Junior Counselors and Student Interns, and providing opportunities for growth.
  • Manage and facilitate professional collaboration between the two Coordinators in each Partnership to ensure the highest level of collaboration and communication. Partnerships consist of one Israeli community and one International community.
  • Develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with all key members of the local Diller programs in assigned cluster, including Supervisor, committee members, Federation Representatives, etc.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

  • Reports to Director of Education, North America and International
  • Works collaboratively with the team of Community Engagement Managers and Education Team
  • Serves as a member of the Diller Global Team and collaborates across departments as needed
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Coordinators and Supervisor
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A background in experiential Jewish education
  • Minimum of five years of experience in teen engagement / education
  • High EQ; ability to be empathetic and provide direct feedback with clarity and compassion
  • Experience facilitating workshops and presenting publicly
  • Understanding of and interest in global Jewish peoplehood
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to thrive in a multicultural environment and recognition of the challenges and opportunities that a cross-cultural program can present
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including up to 20% travel, and enthusiasm for global travel
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic global team
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, graduate degree a plus
  • Some knowledge of Hebrew preferred
  • This position is remote within the continental United States, with approximately 20% travel including 2-3 weeks overseas in July. Strong preference for candidates in Eastern or Central Time Zones.
