We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic individual to fill the Library Assistant Specialist position at our Amelia Branch. This part-time role involves providing exceptional customer service to guests of all ages, including assisting with circulation, answering questions, recommending materials, and helping with technology.
Responsibilities:
* Circulate materials and perform various clerical tasks using the library automated circulation system
* Answer library users' reference and reader's advisory questions in person and on the telephone, using materials in various formats (i.e., books, databases, periodicals, newspapers, and indexes)
* Maintain a working knowledge of the materials collections, services, and trends in library services
* Shelve materials as necessary
Qualifications:
* High school degree with three years of relevant experience
* Skilled in using technology, computers, and software applications, including Microsoft Office products, and troubleshooting equipment issues
* Familiar with electronic resources to aid in reference and reader's advisory assistance, programming, statistical reports, and communication
* Ability to work evenings and weekends
* Establishes and maintains an excellent working relationship with library staff in all departments, library guests, with volunteers, and within work groups, respectful of diversity and all ages
* Ability to pass a background check
