Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer at our Burns Harbor, Indiana operation. The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for managing troubleshooting, repairing, and determining root cause analysis of all electrical failures. In addition, the role includes implementing and monitoring all predictive maintenance (PM) activities and managing vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will have prior steel industry experience, be self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced work environment with complex operations.

Summary Of Responsibilities
- Oversee hourly team members, assign tasks, and monitor progress.
- Evaluate and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues while guiding the team.
- Work rotating shifts, including weekends and assigned holidays.
- Ensure crew safety with daily job safety briefings.
- Track equipment availability and efficiency, and perform Pareto analysis to identify key issues.
- Use failure analysis techniques to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Assists in planning equipment outages and repairs, and establish maintenance priorities.
- Helps establish and assign preventive maintenance procedures to ensure proper equipment care.
- Update drawings with equipment modifications and provide redesign counsel while collaborating with operational and technical personnel.
- Collaborate with suppliers and external engineers to specify design requirements for new or modified equipment.
- Coordinates inspectors and testing groups to establish standards and procedures for equipment inspection and maintenance to control inventory and costs.
- Maintain Preventative Maintenance database and ensure PM activities are effective.
- Identify and monitor critical spares, perform risk assessments, and manage inventory levels.
- Assist in proactive maintenance activities and create maintenance plans for repetitive jobs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor degree in electrical engineering or related technical field from an accredited educational institution or combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated electrical equipment knowledge.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and experience.
- Experience using an electronic Maintenance Repair Software System, and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to perform maintenance and reliability studies and FMEA for existing and proposed equipment.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
- Proven supervisory experience.
- Three years in a heavy industrial environment.
- Engineering experience in steel mills, manufacturing, or similar facilities.
- Maintenance and manufacturing background in the steel industry experience.
- Knowledge of industrial wiring, controls, and instrumentation.
- Ability to read, troubleshoot, and write ladder logic.
- Experience in tuning and calibration of PID loops and control.
- Experience with PLCs, AC/DC drives, and HMI setup, programming, and configuration.
- Knowledge of safety and health policies including key components of the OSHA regulations.
