JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the Nursing Informatics efforts at CCAD across the continuum of care. Assumes responsibility for the design and development, implementation and ongoing administration of nursing information systems for the Chief Nursing Officer. Provides consultation to the CNO department regarding recommendations for improvements related to informatics and clinical practice. Oversees all projects related to clinical information systems and serves as nursing liaison to IT. Works with key stakeholders to integrate electronic applications into CCAD operations in order to provide quality care and cost efficient services which are aligned with CCAD priorities.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE
- Collaborates and partners with CCAD leaders and key stakeholders in identifying and implementing innovative models and best practices within clinical informatics.
- Provides facility vision, leadership and technical advice related to clinical applications, process and workflow design, data management and related processes.
- Provides strategic and tactical leadership to manage the impact of changes on clinical applications on the delivery of patient care and member services, including escalating change requests, planning upgrades, facilitating planned downtime, communicating changes to end users and leadership, and translating impacts and training needs to Nurse Education for training purposes.
- Advocates use of clinical applications and directs development and implementation of changes to EPIC to improve quality, care experience, and efficiency across the continuum of care.
- Manages clinical applications to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction w/ emphasis on customer service and highest standards of quality and innovation.
- Develops plans and implementation for new and revised information systems, ensures communication among employees, and facilitates adherence to established programs and policies
- Coordinates and facilitates on-going clinical application evaluation including: user accuracy, data integrity, and system reliability.
- Develops and implements action plans as needed to support user accuracy, data integrity and system reliability.
- Participates in change evaluation and supports users in maintaining changed processes. Participates in the process of seeking methods for improvement of patient care and controlling costs for rendering care through the use of information technology.
- Serves as a liaison between operations and other teams to communicate and facilitate system modification to meet user needs.
- Serves as a nursing informatics resource to individuals and teams throughout the facility.
- Identifies and resolves workflow issues through analyzing workflows, rounding on units, and conducting ad-hoc training, and ensuring appropriate utilization of clinical applications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, extensive sitting, standing and/or walking, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout CCAD and lift up to 12 Kg

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing, IT or healthcare related field is required
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or IT is preferred
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of informatics experience in a health care environment is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in allied health management
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in quality improvement and patient safety
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in clinical research & evidence implementation.
- Designing EPIC interactions and workflows
Certification and Licensure
- Valid and current national license is required
- BLS is required from AHA or an equivalent organization, or must be obtained within 3 months of employment
- ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty is required, from AHA or an equivalent organization; or must obtain within 6 months of employment
