Fairview Hospital’s 5 North Innovation Unit is used to trial, evaluate and develop best practices in technology, nursing, interdisciplinary care and medicine. Teamwork and collaboration are cornerstones of this unit and are essential to the successful implementation of new interventions. This team is known for its ability to bring ideas, technology, and concepts together for caregivers and their patients. You will enjoy the open communication between caregivers and the leadership team, allowing ideas to be shared in a supportive work environment. Continuing education is a high priority, as is the unit-based shared governance group that meets monthly to evaluate practice issues and give a voice to the caregivers on the team.
A caregiver in this position works evenings, 3:00pm—11:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or GED.
One year of experience in a customer service-related role.
Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
College degree.
Microsoft Office experience.

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
