As a Patient Access Representative, you will ensure patients and visitors have an exceptional experience throughout the entire registration, intake and scheduling process in the Emergency Department. This role is a great steppingstone to other Customer Service positions or departments within Cleveland Clinic.
A caregiver in this position works nights from 9:30PM - 6:00AM, with every other weekend and rotating holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Perform registration and obtain information about demographics, insurance, medical and financial.
- Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.
- Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.
- Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role OR Associate’s Degree and one year of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree
- Comfort with ED setting
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders
- Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
- In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
- In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
