The 2100 Clinical Decision Unit is a fast-paced unit with a high patient turnover rate (less than 24 hours) located on the hospital’s cardiac telemetry floor. This unit treats major diagnoses, such as chest pain, syncope, and dizziness.
A caregiver in this position works evenings, 3:00pm—11:30pm or 3:00pm—3:30am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare units, patient rooms, and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfer, or emergencies.
Provide and document assigned care (bath, changing and/or refreshing of bed linen, dressing/undressing of patient, back rubs, etc.) and other general care through the day to assure patient's physical comfort.
Perform and document in the electronic medical records the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, height, and measure intake and output in an accurate and precise manner.
Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment, as necessary and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner.
Perform hourly safety rounds willingly, anticipates patient needs and responds to patient call lights promptly.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)
Prior job or educational experience providing basic computer knowledge and skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Can perform basic clinical mathematics.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and staff.
State Tested Nursing Assistant
One year recent acute care experience

Physical Requirements:
Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
