What are the responsibilities and job description for the PROCESSING ASSISTANT III position at Cleveland County?
Performs skilled administrative support work performing a wide variety of clerical duties within the Public Health Center with the goal of enabling the agency to provide needed services to the citizens of Cleveland County, and to bill for these services when appropriate, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Administrative Assistant I. The normal work schedule includes Monday to Friday 8AM-5PM.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This position is cross-trained in all clinic's clerical services. Performs clerical duties which includes, providing information to patients via telephone and in person, obtaining patient demographics, insurance/household/income information to create the Electronic Medical Record for the patient and complete financial screenings, ensure chart is ready for lab or nurse staff. Answers patient's phone calls, obtains information and route the call to the appropriate clinic/nurse. Input data into the computer from encounter sheet for billing, and collection of payment on accounts. Greet and assist all patrons of the public health center. Schedules and maintains clinic appointments. Retaining, filing, and managing all patient's materials prior to filing or scanning. Fulfill medical release request.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
General knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods, and practice. General knowledge of and ability to use correct spelling, punctuation, and specialized vocabulary; ability to proofread. General knowledge of office accounting and record keeping procedures, mathematics, and their application in the work environment. Ability to learn and apply a variety of guidelines. Ability to use a variety of office equipment. Ability to work with people with courtesy and tact. Ability to screen communication based on predetermined guidelines to independently respond or route inquires. Ability to record and compile information based on general guidelines. Ability to gather and give information and instructions regarding the work process or procedures. Ability to balance and reconcile figures. Ability to learn to use specialized office equipment.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED and one year experience in office assistant / secretarial experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires walking and sitting and occasionally requires standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and pushing or pulling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
