Job Summary:
The Dental Assistant Program Director is responsible for overseeing the development, administration, and evaluation of the Dental Assistant Program. This role involves ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The Director will collaborate with industry professionals, CDI Education and Operations teams to maintain up-to-date curriculum standards, and promote the program's success within the company, community, and industry. The Dental Assistant Program Director will also supervise and manage the office dental assistants and other clinical staff as needed. The Director will ensure CDI best practices and regulations and provide training and mentorship to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management/Instruction:
- Develop and implement the program’s curriculum and instructional materials.
- Conduct training and instruction for the program as required.
- Monitor and assess program performance and student outcomes.
- Ensure the program meets accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Recruitment:
- Develop strategies to enhance student recruitment.
- Recruit and accept students to maintain a minimum of ten students per class.
- Provide ongoing professional development and support for students.
- Partner with students and operations on job placement within CDI.
- Student Success:
- Advise and support students throughout their educational journey.
- Develop strategies to enhance student retention, and graduation rates.
- Address student concerns and resolve conflicts as needed.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and program assessments.
- Prepare reports for accreditation bodies, institutional leadership, and other stakeholders and CDI leadership.
- Supervise and manage daily activities and schedule of the office dental assistants.
- Community and Industry Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with dental professionals, industry organizations, and potential employers.
- Organize and participate in community outreach activities and professional events.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements to ensure program relevance.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Conduct regular evaluations of program effectiveness and implement improvements.
- Utilize feedback from students, faculty, and industry partners to enhance the program.
- Stay informed about educational best practices and emerging technologies in dental assisting.
- Clinical Oversight and Support:
- Monitor and evaluate clinical procedures to ensure they meet established standards and protocols.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of office dental assistants.
- Provide expert advice on the implementation of best practices in dental assisting.
- Address and resolve complex clinical issues and challenges in collaboration with dental professionals.
- Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs for dental assistants and clinical staff on new techniques, technologies, and procedures.
- Conduct regular workshops and training sessions to ensure the team is up to date with the latest industry standards.
- Mentor and support new and existing dental assistants, providing guidance and feedback to enhance their skills and performance.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all clinical practices comply with regulatory standards, including infection control protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of clinical practices to ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to enhance patient safety and care quality.
- Patient Care and Interaction:
- Provide support to dental assistants in managing patient interactions, ensuring a high level of patient care and satisfaction.
- Assist with complex patient cases and coordinate care with other dental and medical professionals as needed.
- Administrative and Operational Duties:
- Collaborate with practice management to streamline clinical workflows and improve operational efficiency.
- Assist in the development of schedules and assignments for dental assistants and other clinical staff.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in dental assisting, including teaching or program management experience. Prior leadership role/position preferred.
- Certification: Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent certification required; additional credentials (e.g., CDA) preferred.
- Skills: Strong leadership and management abilities, excellent verbal and nonverbal communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in curriculum development and program evaluation. Ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of dental assisting practices, accreditation standards, and educational methodologies.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
