Job Overview
The Associate Scientist will join a team that develops of a new class of diagnostics. The Associate Scientist will be responsible for performing analytical procedures including testing of specimens and/or blood products supporting the development and commercialization of a new class of diagnostic tests.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Development and optimization of new immunoassays for the detection and quantification of protein biomarkers in human blood samples (serum, plasma)
- Investigation of biomarker performance characteristics (sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, precision)
- Validation and transfer of assays to clinical settings
- Assist team members in the design and execution of research project
- Perform laboratory techniques and procedures required for experimental studies
- Conduct tests and procedures utilizing various laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Adhere to all applicable good laboratory practices and standard operating procedures
- Maintain records of studies in accordance with Good Documentation Practices and adhere to applicable policies and procedures
- Accumulate data from analyses and prepare charts, graphs, statistical tables for presentation to supervisor for final analysis
- Order and receive supplies and equipment
- Reagent preparation
- Perform routine maintenance and laboratory upkeep
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to project discussions
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in life sciences or related field from a four-year college/university; with at least two years of experience in a lab environment
- Experience in immunoassay development, analytical chemistry assays, and protein quantification methods
- Experience with various immunoassay platforms; (e.g. Luminex/Mesoscale) is preferred
- Proficiency in standard laboratory techniques, including ELISA and sample preparation
- Experience in analyses and interpretations of complex data sets, including biomarker concentration data, assay performance data, and clinical data
- Experience with automated liquid handling systems and other relevant instrumentation is preferred
- Basic knowledge in methods of protein expression and purification, and antibody production
- Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) preferred
- Proficient computer skills especially with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Works well in a collaborative and team-oriented environment
- Ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively
- Position is on-site, this is NOT a remote or hybrid position
- Work involves a fast-paced laboratory/office environment with a substantial amount of sitting and operating a computer.
- Fine motor skills and manual dexterity to handle specimens and lab equipment required to process specimens and repair equipment
- May be required to stand for long periods of time
- Visual acuity to examine specimens and reagents
- The ability to distinguish colors
- Light lifting up to 50#s may be required; offices reachable by elevator but should be able to climb stairs in case elevator out.
- May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials, etc.
- Candidate must have ability to maintain punctual daily in-person attendance
