What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server - Merwin's Wharf position at Cleveland Metroparks?
The Server interacts with guests and ensures that they have a great experience when dining at the Cleveland Metroparks facility. The Server is responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner.
Essential Functions:
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
- Prepares the tables, laying out napkins and utensils, making sure the condiments are refilled, performing all other preparation tasks.
- Greets all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting.
- Stays updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of items, etc.
- Provides excellent customer service including suggesting dishes, assisting in drink selection, informing customers about food preparation details, communicating specific customer needs to the cooks.
- Maintains proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering deserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
- Prepares non-alcohol drinks for service to customer table.
- Obtains payment for meals and adheres to all cash handling procedures.
- Performs basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
- Assists with special events as needed.
- Provide guidance to guests on Cleveland Metroparks activities and other regional information.
- Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior serving experience is preferred. Must be age 19 or older.
- Must complete ServSafe program.
- Basic restaurant operation knowledge preferred.
- Excellent oral communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to read and/or understand labels.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public.
- Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
- Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
