What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthopedic Medical Assistant/Patient Care Representative position at Cleveland Orthopedic & Spine Institute?
Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care in both clerical and clinical aspects. Responsible for chart management, clinical voice messages and medication refills. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from our offered services. Conveys a positive image of medical office wile also maintaining a positive attitude with patients, peers, advanced practitioners and physicians.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Complies with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
- Provides basic patient care as ordered.
- Promotes wellness by providing education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
- Documents all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
- Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies.
- Maintains examination rooms including cleaning exam/procedure rooms between patient visits. Stocks necessary supplies as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality.
- Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
- Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data.
- Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
- Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and care in dealing with others.
- Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with physicians, co-workers, patients and patients’ families.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma, GED required .
- Graduate of medical assisting program preferred but not required.
- Orthopedic experience preferred or willing to learn.
- Minimum of one year work experience in public contact job, customer service, preferably medical office environment.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Varied activities including sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching. Occasional high stress levels from workload.
