Job Summary
The School of Music invites applicants for a non-tenure track appointment as an Assistant College Lecturer in Music Education (Instrumental) and interim coordinator of music education, beginning August 18, 2025. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about contemporary pedagogical approaches, teaching methods, techniques and trends in music education, and have a reputation for excellence in teaching and in forging relationships and creating partnerships in the music education community. Teaching to include some combination of the following: brass, woodwind, string, percussion, instrumental methods, instrumental conducting, curriculum and assessment, and student teacher supervision. Applicants with the ability to also teach instrumental conducting, percussion methods, and music technology are encouraged to apply.
Assistant college lecturers normally teach 12 credits a semester and engage in service duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in music education, or bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s degree in field related to music education;
- Previous or current valid teaching license;
- At least three years of K-12 teaching in instrumental music.
- A PhD in music education or ABD in music education;
- Administrative or organizational leadership experience;
- Experience teaching instrumental methods (e.g., brass/woodwind methods) at the undergraduate level;
- Experience supervising and mentoring undergraduate student teachers;
- Experience guiding undergraduate student teachers through the completion of the edTPA process;
- More than three years of secondary teaching experience in instrumental music;
- Experience teaching beginning instrumentalists in educational settings;
- Proficiency in Music Learning Theory;
- Qualified to teach instrumental conducting;
- Qualified to teach percussion methods.
