Certified Welding Inspector
Job description
V&S Schuler Engineering Inc. supplies products and services to electrical utilities, rural electrical cooperatives, contractors, and manufacturing industries. We are fabricators of structural and tubular steel with locations in Oklahoma and Ohio.
We are currently searching for an outstanding individual for our Certified Welder Inspector position at our Muskogee, Ok location.
Description: Inspector will interpret shop drawings to perform dimensional inspections of fabricated structural steel. as well as visual welding inspections and continued implementation of the welding program. Applicant must be able to read shop drawings.
Duties:
Read fabrication drawings, details, and section views.
Utilize a tape measure, square, bevel square, weld gauge, or proper tools on fabricated materials per the blueprints.
Determine if welded products and structures meet the acceptance and quality criteria of a specific code, standard, or document.
Neatly and accurately complete all required paperwork.
Process information into a computer.
Compile and submit completed inspection reports in a timely manner.
Communicate verbally, and in writing, with other crew employees, supervisors, and client personnel.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to legal, company, and customer safety standards, practices, and regulations.
Other related job duties may be required in this position as determined by the QC Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Previous experience in a steel fabrication environment required (Fab Shop, Job Shop, Plate Work, Miscellaneous, etc).
Minimum of 1 year experience with structural steel fabrication.
Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 code and AISC Standards.
Previous industry related inspection experience preferred.
SCWI, CWI or CAWI certification Preferred.
Ultrasonic Testing experience desired
Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds.
Ability to bend, crawl, push, pull, stretch, sit, walk, and stand for extended periods of time.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to effectively multitask.
Excellent communication skills.
Additional:
Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere.
Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with elevated noise levels.
Required to wear safety equipment as required.
Potential traveling to multiple job sites in one day.
Tolerable to climate changes
Periodic travel out of town.
