Cliffco Mortgage Bank is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Licensing Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring full compliance with all federal and state licensing requirements while also supporting our interim servicing team with borrower-first payment inquiries. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a customer-first mindset, and familiarity with the mortgage industry.
What You’ll Do
Licensing & Compliance
- Manage and oversee all aspects of state and federal licensing for loan officers, branch managers, and the mortgage bank as a whole.
- Maintain compliance with NMLS (Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry) requirements.
- Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to mortgage banking regulations.
- Track and renew licenses, monitor regulatory updates, and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
- Assist with onboarding licensed mortgage professionals including background checks, disclosures, and continuing education.
Interim Servicing & Borrower Support
- Provide support for the customer service portion of interim servicing, ensuring borrowers are guided through their initial loan payments.
- Educate borrowers on the transfer of servicing process, what to expect, and how to navigate their payment options.
- Assist borrowers in making their first payment via the portal, resolving any technical or account issues.
- Respond to borrower inquiries related to first payments and portal navigation with professionalism and empathy.
- Proactively follow up with borrowers via phone and email regarding upcoming or missed payments during the interim servicing period.
- Coordinate with investors and servicing partners to confirm payment remittance schedules and resolve discrepancies.
- Escalate complex servicing issues to appropriate departments (compliance, servicing, accounting) while maintaining borrower communication.
- Ensure welcome letters, payment instructions, and contact information are delivered timely and accurately to borrowers.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in mortgage licensing and/or loan servicing, with a strong understanding of NMLS and state-specific requirements.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, especially in working with borrowers during the early stages of loan servicing.
- A problem-solver with a proactive mindset, comfortable navigating both compliance and client-facing responsibilities.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with legal, compliance, servicing, and investor relations teams.
