PURPOSE:
The Community School Coordinator (CSC) is a school-based position based at Fair Haven School, will execute the coordination and alignment of Community School resources (including enrichment programs, academic interventions, and family support services) in order to achieve planned outcomes, in partnership with students, families, school staff, and the community. The CSC links the resources and services that impact children’s success and aligns them around common goals and strategies, under the supervision of the Project Director. Coordination is carried out via the pillars of a community school and other relevant frameworks; it is also dependent on needs present in the school and addresses key priority areas such as: academic, social-emotional, health, and basic needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Coordinate ongoing needs assessment and asset mapping processes.
2) Participate and assist in the coordination of school and community meetings, including the Partnership and Steering Committee Meetings, School Planning and Management Team, School Student Support Team, Parent Organizations, Student Organizations, and the Community Management Team.
3) Help orchestrate youth and adult programming at Fair Haven School and FAME before school, after school, on weekends, and during school vacations and the summer.
4) Coordinate and manage community partnerships and resources.
5) Organize family-friendly community building activities at school based on caregiver, student, and staff interests and priorities
6) Facilitate communication and relationship-building with community partners, key stakeholders, and volunteers.
7) Serve as key contact person for school staff seeking support or enrichment for students and families.
8) Work closely with teachers, principals, and curriculum specialists to monitor student-centered data points, including academic performance measures, specific academic challenges, align partnerships and resources, and provide professional support and community resources to overcome identified gaps.
9) Provide support and coaching to caregivers in order to participate in School Planning and Management Teams, as well as to develop and lead Caregiver Organizations.
10) Organize caregiver leadership and educational programming.
11) Provide training and technical assistance activities to community partners, key stakeholders, school staff, and volunteers.
12) Monitor and analyze outcomes related to school goals and benchmarks of project goals and objectives, such as: attendance, academic achievement, parental involvement, and program effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or GED, with Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
- Fluency in Spanish and English, determined via test
- Familiarity with and experience collaborating with community partners in New Haven neighborhoods;
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in community organizing, education, and/or other community-based work, with preferred experiences in child development, group facilitation, data analysis, and/or using outcomes in program development, operation or evaluation.
Salary : $50,000 - $53,000
